Reversible Scarf “The Nine-Colored Deer 九色鹿” · 180 × 70 cm

A long scarf made of polyester, with a reversible, double-sided, two-tone design inspired by the famous Chinese tale of the 九色鹿 (Jiǔsè Lù), the Nine-Colored Deer.

The image of the nine-colored deer is especially well-known for its depiction in the murals of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, one of the great treasures of ancient Chinese art.

The story comes from an ancient Buddhist tale: an extraordinary deer of great beauty and kindness saves the life of a man who was in danger. In exchange, it only asks him not to reveal where it lives. However, moved by the promise of a reward, the man breaks his word and betrays the deer.

In the end, the truth comes to light and the deer is protected.

For this reason, the story of the 九色鹿 speaks not only of beauty, but also of compassion, gratitude, loyalty, integrity, and respect for one’s word.

In this design, the deer appears surrounded by clouds, wavy shapes, and motifs inspired by mural paintings in shades of red, orange, gold, green, and turquoise, creating an intense composition full of movement.

The result is a piece that combines fashion and cultural heritage, transforming an ancient story from Dunhuang into a contemporary accessory.
